December 20, 2017
We’re a lot like you. Normally, a huge shopping mall such as the Trafford Centre isn’t where we’d chose to spend our spare time. However, in the middle of January there is nowhere we would rather be.
That’s because from January 18 to 21 the Caravan and Motorhome Show is at Event City, the huge site used for all manner of great shows and events – and it’s only a stone’s throw from the Trafford Centre so you can browse the last of the sales too if that’s your thing!
Regular readers of this blog will know we did a similar post last year, providing reasons why the 2017 show would be worth a visit. Hopefully we persuaded you and you came – great wasn’t it!
This year promises to be every bit as good. Here are the reasons we think the show is worth a visit for anyone with even a passing interest in motorhomes…
We will be there, but we are far from being the only dealer present (sadly!). Many of the manufacturers are also likely to have a stand and so for anyone giving any thought to buying a new or used motorhome any time soon a show such as this is the place to be.
One day spent at the show can save days spent trawling dealerships seeing a vehicle here, another there. You can see them all here, under one roof!
It is also a great no-pressure environment. It’s obvious that people just want to browse, maybe have a bit of a nosey. Come along and have a peek inside any of the motorhomes and get a feel for which, if any, might be perfect for that trip across the continent…
2. Where else will you find so many like-minded enthusiasts?
With the possible exception of the event staff – the cleaners, the catering staff, the car park attendants – it is safe to assume that everyone inside the building has an interest in caravans and motorhomes (bar the odd person who got their weeks mixed up and thought it was the golf expo…)
Not only does this mean you can strike up a conversation safe in the knowledge that the other person shares your enthusiasm, it also means that there is advice everywhere! There will be thousands of motorhome owners in attendance, they will have thoughts on the best motorhomes to buy, the best campsites across Europe, the must-have accessories.
Where else can you find all this knowledge in one place?
3. Tips galore
As well as getting advice from your fellow motorhome enthusiast, there are also many talks and practical sessions.
There are sessions on cooking – how to make the most of your motorhome kitchen, using the specialist ingredients available in each location.
There are talks on how to really get off the tourist route and find hidden gems and superb spots of natural beauty – Monty Halls will be giving his advice in a must-see talk.
And there are also the practical sessions, for example you can see demonstrations on parking and towing and even have a go yourself under expert supervision. If you have any concerns when it comes to maneuvering a motorhome, this is a great chance to learn a few little tips and tricks from vastly experienced drivers.
4. We are there
What do you mean, that’s not worth the price of a ticket on its own?
Fair enough, but do come along to our stand to say hi. We are stand 1-1, we like to think that’s because we are the north west’s leading dealer, but maybe the allocation was coincidental.
5. Gadgets
We have to be honest, this is one of our favourite bits of the whole show.
A motorhome is a home from home and so it’s only right and proper that it should have a few gadgets and gizmos within. Every year there are advances on existing gadgets – better wifi routers, improved parking cameras – but also new ideas that, frankly, nobody saw coming.
Some will seem like near must-haves, others might leave you scratching your head. Actually, that’s a pretty good idea, an automatic head scratcher for the driver (after all, they can’t take their hands off the wheel). We might build that one for next year – it probably wouldn’t the zaniest idea on show!
See you there?
Hopefully we’ll see you there, at Event City from January 18 to 21.
